Feel free to contact me any time
People ask me all the time, "Why
the hell are you building up a Windstar?" It all comes from a
beautiful late morning motorcycle ride to "Nowhere, Arizona" and a trip to have "a
beer" at “The Jackass Inn” and return home to our wife's. Upon the
way to get "a beer" a small issue happened while down shifting from
around 130 mph and around 25 mph something in either the shaft drive of my
1984 Honda Nighthawk or the gear box seemed to suddenly "lock-up"
and the rear wheel began so 'wheel hop' and the last thing I recall while on
the bike was looking back at the rear wheel. When this happened, it
caused me lose control of the bike. My helmet then made a very hard contact
with a guard rail in which I was slowing down to negotiate. My helmet
cracked yet as any high quality helmet does, it protected the "egg"
inside the helmet. Did I get up and shake it off, "No, I
immediately that this time I'd screwed up and screwed up very
good!" I couldn't feel my arms and legs, though they felt like they
were straight up in the air. I'd asked a friend of mine to get the
rocks out from under my neck, there were none there. So I asked him to
remove my helmet and he said, "I'd better not take it off..." Those
were the words that made me realize that my neck was broken; I'd finally done
it after having way too many close calls over the prior four to five
tears. Everything from diving into swimming pool's in college to tubing
down snow covered mountains, and four wheeling in way's that only Ford trucks
are able to take in and still allow you to drive home towing a Jeep, Chevy or
Dog, I mean Dodge!
This is why I'm building the Windstar
that’ll run like no other in Arizona!
Eventually I’ll put a little a SUPERCHARGED emblem on the rear hatch where it
currently say, Windstar but I doubt they’ll be anything else other that a
sand blasted Ford emblem on the tinted rear window. I’d like to keep it
a sleeper or have it painted “Yield Sign Yellow”; otherwise it’ll stay teal
or black. Decisions, decisions…
Fell free to contact me with any
questions at: bruce@windstar-sc.com,
I’ll answer any and all questions that I can. If you ride a bike, wear a full
face helmet as I was because being in a wheelchair is only as hard as you
make it on yourself and those around you. Life goes on and there’s no
need to let the weed’s grow up around you, I’m living proof that if you have
a desire to do something, you can do so, just don’t lie around and
make others feel sorry for you and do your best not to fall into a ‘pity
party’ as nobody but you will attend!
Feel free to visit my much need to be
updated SCI web sight at www.bruceswebsite.com,
it may shine a little more light on just how “warped my brain is”!
