The Engine Spec's for My Supercharged 3.8 |
|
My "BUDGET BUILD 3.8 Litre" |
|
The shortblock is assembled using 3.840 bore SpeedPro SuperCoupe replacement pistons (8.5:1 compression ratio) with anti-friction skirt coating, polished 94-95 forged rods with ARP bolts. 2001 3.8 neutral crankshaft, neutral balancer, and 96 Windstar flex plate with the weight removed for neutral balance. It has a 2001 3.8 balance shaft, new timing chain, and 2001 timing chain tensioner. The rotating assembly was balanced and installed in the 96 Windstar block. The 96 Windstar windage tray and oil pickup was reused. Oil drain back areas are glyptic treated, exterior of the block was painted black. The cam is a Crower regrind with enough intake and exhaust duration to make my minivan take off like none other.
The cylinder head exhaust ports were ported and were reassembled with upgraded 3.8 valve springs and will stay together just fine...
The M112 supercharger adapter was fabricated shortened as much to allow to fit under the cowl of my Windstar, had it been any shorter, it won't flow properly creating richer running cylinders and leaner ones also. Normally they sit up around a inch higher but sometimes you need to do, what you have to do!
Crower roller hydraulic lifter go for a hell of a ride on the camshaft and Crower full roller rocker arms top off the cylinder heads. We're not only talking "Bullet Proof" but they look hot too.
I have a Snow Performance water/alcohol injection kit installed under the hood and the batteries will be moved into the rear not only for better weight distribution but so I can use much larger group 27 batteries. The factory Windstar battery, or batteries with a wheelchair conversion are extremely small. One battery is for just the engine, the second is for the power door and wheelchair ramp. Currently the van "somehow" runs off two very small batteries and one needs replaced any way's and I have a spare deep cycle battery from my wheelchair. |
